ECOLOGICAL HEDGES

Because it is important to encourage biodiversity which helps cultures develop, we have initiated a program of eco-friendly hedge development. As well as enhancing the quality of the soil, they act as a refuge and a pantry for birds, insects and lonesome bees.

THE WHOLESOME PREPARATION OF OUR FUTURE VINEYARDS

Where we have planned to plant our future vineyards, we first plant lucerne. This special fodder crop favours the earth’s biodiversity and delivers a natural nutritional contribution to our future vineyards. Lucerne is highly appreciated by farmers for feeding their cattle because of its rich mineral content. We allow them to come and harvest the crop directly on our land. 

100% NATURAL NUTRIMENTS

In our vineyard, we are experimenting with field bean plants between the rows as a way to naturally bring nutriments to the vines. Once the beans are ripe, we grind the plants there and then. The organic matter decomposes into the earth and delivers lots of nutritional elements which are essential for the vines.

LET’S COLLECT RAIN WATER!

In order to limit our ecological footprint, at our winery le Pigeonnier, we have set-up a rain water collection pool. We use this water when we plant new vines, instead of pumping out ground water.
