The NAUD Distillery launches a series of limited-edition French whiskies. This first whisky, limited to 1120 cases, is called “Alcée,” a name derived from the ancient Greek Alkḗ, personifying ability and courage.
Single Malt Whisky, made from 100% French barley, distilled and aged on the family estate.
“Alcée” is the result of extensive reflection to achieve the perfect balance between authenticity, body, and smoothness, in order to offer this beautiful French whisky inspired by Charentais roots.
The selected grain, 100% French two-row spring barley, was malted and brewed in Charente-Maritime, the NAUD family’s favourite playground.
This Single Malt Whisky, non-chill filtered, is double-distilled in small traditional copper pot stills of 2,500L, in the family distillery, in Pons.
The 3-year ageing process, carefully over-seen by the Cellar Master, involved 60% ex-bourbon casks, 20% rejuvenated American oak casks, 10% ex-cognac casks, and 10% ex-French whisky casks.
“Alcée” is the expression of the unique expertise of the NAUD family’s master distillers and once again underlines an unwavering passion for the Art of Distillation and Ageing.
“Inspired by my ancestor with the same name, I continue to defy classicism by blending our Charentais grape traditions with those of cereals.” Pierre Naud.
